Sunway Healthcare Group (SHG) began with a vision by Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Sir Dr Jeffrey Cheah KBE AO, Founder and Chairman of Sunway Group, who had envisaged a world-class medical centre as a cornerstone of an integrated township. In 1999, he turned this vision into reality by establishing Sunway Medical Centre (SMC) with a single tower in Sunway City Kuala Lumpur.

Since then, alongside the flagship quaternary SMC’s growth to 6 towers, the healthcare group expanded with the opening of Sunway Medical Centre Velocity in 2019, followed by Sunway Medical Centre Penang in 2022, Sunway Medical Centre Damansara in 2024 and Sunway Medical Centre Ipoh in 2025.

The hospital services are further supported by step-down care provided by Sunway Home Healthcare, ensuring continuity of care for the patient in the comfort of their own homes.

Additionally, the Group included ambulatory and complementary care under its breadth of services, with the establishment of Sunway Specialist Centre Damansara in 2019, Sunway TCM Centre in 2020, Sunway Fertility Centre Kuching in 2022 and a senior living residence, Sunway Sanctuary, in 2023.
